Brown Bag Presentation - Guatemala

Date:        Wednesday, Sept. 8
Time:         12:00 noon
Place:       BLM offices on Cruz Alta Road

The TAS sponsored a trip to Guatemala last November, and we're belatedly doing a Brown Bag on it.  The group traveled all over the country: Quiriqua and Copan, Tikal, then to the great museums in Guatemala City, then to Chichicastenango for its famous twice a week market, then two villages on beautiful Lake Atitlan, more archaeological museums and the Modern Art Museum featuring a room by Carlos Merida.

Many luscious photos were taken by Carol and David Farmer, and the accompanying talk will be given by David with assistance from Lucile Grieder and no doubt others.  Some of the trippers will bring objects of interest acquired on the trip.

Guatemala was the heartland of the Classic Maya, and the ruins (many much restored) are stunning.  This will be a delightful nostalgia trip for those who have been there, and an introduction to its wonders to those who haven't.  So come one, come all!..
