Dixon Summer Archaeology Lecture Series
July 6, 2016
"Feeding Chaco: Ritual and Commensality in Chaco Canyon, New Mexico"
7 pm at the Embudo Valley Library, Dixon
Speaker Adam Watson, a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the American Museum of Natural History, has studied with modern techniques the animal bone collection excavated at Chaco Canyon over the years, much of which had never been studied at all. He will speak about how animals were used for feeding, ritual and feasting. He is also examining the animal remains from the Dixon Plaza Dig and will speak about those.
How about making an evening of it: the Dixon co-op Deli is open until 7 pm with hot and cold sandwiches and homemade pizza, for those who want to enjoy a full evening out.
Save this date, and July 13th also, for our next speaker.
